Missionary Reassignment

Dear President,

Elder Hiatt has been temporarily reassigned to the Florida Jacksonville Mission. He will report to the mission the week of 7/6/21. The exact reporting date will be indicated on the travel itinerary that he will receive about two weeks before his departure date. The length of service in this mission is unknown, and reassignment to his original mission will be based upon conditions associated with COVID-19

Elder Hiatt has been reassigned by a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

Dear Family of Elder Hiatt,

President Wood asked me to update you and let you know that Elder Hiatt has been assigned to labor in the Kingsland 1st Ward in the Kingsland Stake, Kingsland, Georgia.

Attached is a picture of Elder Hiatt with his new companion Elder Benjamin Jackson. In the event you want to send letters or packages directly to Elder Hiatt, his apartment address, for at least the next 6 weeks, is: 411 South Ashley Street, Kingsland, Georgia 31548. Please note that transfers occur roughly every 6 weeks so he will have to let you know whether he is transferred and if he is, his new address.

You can also send letters/packages to the mission office at: Florida Jacksonville Mission, 8663 Baypine Road, Suite 102, Jacksonville, FL 32256. Missionary mail received in the mission office is distributed to the missionaries as soon as possible.

Week 6: Última Semana no CTM

Hello family and friends, I took a picture this week. I don´t have any way to get it onto the computer, so I will try to send it next week. A few things to note about this picture: * I am wearing a suit. Some of you said that I would wear a suit about 12 times during my whole mission. Following expectations of the CTM, I wear a suit every Sunday and Wednesday for church and the temple. I have worn it 12 times already, and will wear it again tomorrow. * The clock of the building is in 24 hour time. This is Brazil, where things are a little different from the USA. Times are written in 24 hour time (but said in 12 hour am/pm time). Fasts go during dinner and breakfast and end at lunch. Cars can make left turns from the right lane right in front of another car in the left lane about to go straight. (I did see this happen once.) * My watch. Hello family and friends, This is Elder Hiatt, currently training to serve a mission in São Paulo Brazil. I will be sending these emails once a week for the next two years. On with the report. Last Tuesday, I arrived at the Denver International Airport ready to depart on my first ever flight, alone, to a different country. (By way of Dallas, Texas.) There were no other missionaries on my flight, but the person next to me was very nice. Upon arriving at Dallas, waiting for my second flight, I met many more missionaries, also serving in Brazil. All of the missionaries from the Salt Lake area came through on the same flight, so there were a lot. Then we departed for a nine and a half hour flight all the way into São Paulo. Week 18: El Fin del Trenamiento

Hello family and friends, As of today, I have completed my training as a missionary, both in the CTM and in the field. Two days ago marked the last non-Sunday day of my training, my half-birthday, and four months in the mission field. (No, I didn't get pizza.) During this time of training, I learned a lot. This includes languages: a lot of Portuguese, a bit of Spanish, a bit of Japanese, and some Haitian Creole. I've been reading The Book of Mormon in all four languages, since they have them here, and have collected three pages worth of synonyms in at least four languages. (It's a lot harder to find specific words in Japanese, so I only have 45 of the 63 words/phrases in Japanese.) I've also learned to like the food here. As some of you know, I was a fairly picky eater before the mission. Here is a list of things I didn't like back then: * Mustard * Onions * Peppers * Olives * Tomatoes * Whipped Cream * Ham * . . .
