Week 26: Coronavírus
Hello, family and friends,
So, as you know, there's this thing called CoronaVirus, which exists in pretty much the entire world by now, including São Paulo Brasil. Here's what we were told this week:
Day 1: Tomorrow you will receive 50 reais (about 12 dollars) to buy some non-perishable food.
Day 2: You need to go back to the store to buy more water, hand sanitizer, and toilet paper. Also, you can't touch people (including shaking hands) or knock doors, and all zone conferences have been canceled.
Day 3: All church meetings have been canceled. You can only make contacts on the streets if the Spirit directs you.
Day 4: You have ten minutes today to talk to your families and tell them to watch the mission Facebook page so they will know what's going on. Also, you have to return to your house at 8:30 every night instead of 9.
Day 5: You can't eat lunch in member's houses anymore, you have to either bring the food to your house, have them bring it to your house, or eat in a restaurant somewhere.
We've been meeting with members a lot, since we don't have a lot else to do. We found a family of less actives, who we will continue visiting, and have a few investigator type peoples that we visit when we can. We also stay in our apartment a lot, because it's better than wandering aimlessly in the streets.
But you know, it's not all bad...

Estamos no meio de um tempo difícil. Muitos eventos estão sendo cancelados, e não podemos fazer muitas coisas que fazíamos antes.
Mas isso não pode nos desanimar. Aqui tem uma das cento e quarenta e cinco vezes nas escrituras que dizem "não temer". O Senhor está conosco, e vai nos proteger ao O seguirmos. A única condição aqui é "se [estivermos] estabelecidos sobre [Sua] rocha." Ao confiar no Senhor, tudo irá para nosso bem. Desafios ainda virão, mas vamos conseguir com o Senhor.

Therefore, fear not, little flock; do good; let earth and hell combine against you, for if ye are built upon my rock, they cannot prevail.
We are in the middle of a difficult time. Many events are being canceled, and we can't do many things that we used to do.
But we can't let this scare us. Here is one of the one hundred forty five times in the scriptures that say "Fear not". The Lord is with us, and He will protect us as we follow Him.
The only condition here is "if [we] are built upon [His] rock." As we trust in the Lord, everything will be for our good. Challenges will still come, but we will get through them with the Lord.
