Week 13: A Clima
Hello family and friends,
This week, we got a lot of rain. It rains a lot here in São Paulo. When it rains really hard and we aren't in or near a house for a lesson, my companion and I generally take cover in a restaurant somewhere close by, and in these restaurants there is almost always a TV showing the news, with the recurring headline: "Olha a chuva!", which means "Look at the rain!", with pictures of how different areas of São Paulo are super flooded. Everywhere in my area is fine though, just wet from all the rain that comes down.
When it isn't actively raining here, it is almost always really hot. Today the high is 31 or 32, which is about 90 for those of you who use Fahrenheit. Also, being near the coast, it is very humid, so the heat feels hotter. And when I say "not actively raining", it is hot immediately before and immediately after the rain too. Here it is very hot and very wet.
And now, the weather.

Alma 5:10-12
E eis que nascerá de Maria, em Jerusalém, que é a terra de nossos antepassados, sendo ela uma virgem, um vaso precioso e escolhido; e uma sombra a envolverá; e conceberá pelo poder do Espírito e dará à luz um filho, sim, o Filho de Deus.
E ele seguirá, sofrendo dores e aflições e tentações de toda espécie; e isto para que se cumpra a palavra que diz que ele tomará sobre si as dores e as enfermidades de seu povo.
E tomará sobre si a morte, para soltar as ligaduras da morte que prendem o seu povo; e tomará sobre si as suas enfermidades para que se lhe encham de misericórdia as entranhas, segundo a carne, para que saiba, segundo a carne, como socorrer seu povo, de acordo com suas enfermidades.
Alma 5:10-12
And behold, he shall be born of Mary, at Jerusalem which is the land of our forefathers, she being a virgin, a precious and chosen vessel, who shall be overshadowed and conceive by the power of the Holy Ghost, and bring forth a son, yea, even the Son of God.
And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people.
And he shall take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities.
A vinda de Cristo é um dos mais importantes eventos que já aconteceu no mundo. Foi profetizado pelos profetas durante toda a história, por Adão, Moisés, Isaías, e aqui Alma, entre muitos outros.
The coming of Christ is one of the most important events that has ever happened in the world. It was prophesied by prophets throughout all of history, by Adam, Moses, Isaiah, and here Alma, among many others.
Cristo é Filho de Deus, o Unigênito do Pai. O seu nascimento foi milagre.
Christ is the Son of God, the Only Begotten of the Father. His birth was a miracle.
Mas só isso não seria importante sem a vida seguinte. Cristo andou fazendo o bem, curando os doentes, ensinando, e convidando todos a segui-Lo.
But this would not be important without the life that followed. Christ went about doing good, curing the sick, teaching, and inviting all to follow Him
Ele sofreu pelos nossos pecados para que possamos ser perdoados, e morreu e ressuscitou para que possamos viver novamente.
He suffered for our sins so that we can be forgiven, and died and resurrected so we can live again.
Mas ainda mais, sofreu pelas nossas tristezas, nossas aflições, nossas dificuldades, nossos dores, e nossas enfermidades para que possa nos consolar em todas as coisas.
But even more, He suffered for our sadnesses, our afflictions, our difficulties, our pains, and our infirmities, so that he can console us in all things.
Nunca ficamos sozinho. Sempre estamos perto dos misericordiosos braços do Senhor, que quer e consegue nos apoiar.
We are never alone. Always we are within reach of the merciful arms of the Lord, who wants to and is able to support us.
Vamos nos lembrar que Cristo é poderoso para salvar, não só do pecado mas de todas as dificuldades e tristezas na nossa vida, se formos para Ele e confiarmos na Sua misericórdia.
Let us remember that Christ is mighty to save, not only from sin but also from the difficulties and sadnesses of this life, if we will go to Him and trust in his mercy.
This is a special time of year, when we take some time to remember the importance of Christ in our lives. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in Heaven. God our Father and His Son Jesus Christ are the reason for the season, they love us, and they want us to return to them. Christ prepared the way for us, and if we will follow Him, we can receive eternal life. I know this to be true, and I thank you all for the opportunity to share my light with each of you.
